#43 of 52 projects

Have you ever wondered why pears are the subject of so many art pieces? Could it be their shape, or color, or? I've been photographing some pears for a couple of days now and seemed to have joined those who use pears in their work. This grouping started out as a rubber stamp stamped onto freezer paper and cut out for a stencil. I very nearly tossed this piece in the trash, but then I remembered one of the rules, finish the piece . . .

Components: Shiva paintstiks for the pears and black wall hanging. Screen printed fabric for the third pear. Machine stitched, doodles, on canvas fabric. Dye-na-flow paint, ochre, to pull the piece together. Sort of a funky 4x6 inch piece.

The pears look textural. I love the "doodling" and the thread shadows. Excellent!
Is the center pear a separate element added on top of the piece? It appears very 3-D which is awesome.
Tell me of the black rectangle which appears stitched on.... very window-like!

Oh my, I love those pears. Also the composition of this piece, linear and also curved. They go together perfectly. Very, very nice piece Gail. The texture is great too.

I quite like this piece; I love pears in work anyway. But the texture is fab and I love the thread play that the pears are resting on. The light background almost looks like crackle. You know it's like the pears are a still life and there is a piece of art hanging in the background.
