Glue resist on screen. The purple is textile paint. Being that this piece doesn't look like much I thought I'd show the first layer. What to do with all of the white? Some of the prints look like batik while others are lifeless.
Components: textile paint screened print, watercolor crayons, dyed cheesecloth hand-stitched
on, edge-stitched.

I see what you mean the top pic has such simplicity, but I'm sure has its place. You are used to having more on your pieces and lots of texture; the 2nd looks more like your style and I do like it. The touch of cheesecloth was genius.
I don't know if you have ever tried to do something black and white and leave it that way. I have many times and usually they have to be changed:>)
I have to say that I love both the before and the after!
I love both pieces too, but you really took it to another level by adding to it. Love the colors you used, and the cheesecloth. That stuff is so great for effect and texture, I use it fairly often. Better yet, it's inexpensive and easily accessible. What could be better than that? Plus, it can be dyed or tinted with tea or coffee.
Your batik works really thrill me. Or maybe I should say faux batik, with the gel glue. I have one piece I made a while back that I'm going to use in my fabric book. Thanks to your inspiration.
