Orvieto, Italy revisited. This photo was sent to the iPhone and edited using a lot of apps. of which I didn't take notes of. Too scattered.
Taken with the iPhone and edited a lot! A cactus has decided that it needs to be taller than the roof top and it's nearly succeeded. I nearly missed a bloom that had grown for over a week and only opens for 24 hours. It's magnificent, but the background isn't. Somehow I eliminated the cluttered background in PSE; I'm clueless about what I did, but it worked.
Another version of the same image.
So, why do I need the distraction? I often think that I've aired too many personal things on this blog so when the latest challenge hit I went off of the radar. I don't even know where to begin so I'll just say that I'm dealing with breast cancer and so far I've had a mastectomy and will start chemo soon. It was discovered in mid-May. I'm still in shock.

I have been thinking of you, hoping that something will come right for you. I have a stinking cold, the 2nd this year and I dont often get colds, I am wondering if its due to the polymyalga which is an immune thing, amongs others, I feel 100 today and ache all over, I feel I am losing days I cant afford to lose!
I have no doubt I will feel better next week, not sure about you though, wishing you some happiness.
Oh Gail I am so sorry to hear about this. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Of course you need distractions and hopefully a bit of art now and again will bring your thoughts to a better place. Thinking of you!
Glad to see your being creative!!! I like the flowers and love the building.
I know you talked about doing a journal, I hope that's happening full throttle!
Nice to see you bak on your blog!
These are beautiful images Gail. You are creating photographic art- they are glorious!
I'm glad to hear the mastectomy is over and that you are moving on to the next step. Thanks for letting us know. I've kept you in my thoughts and prayer.
Love and hugs,
Pam
Beautiful photos--and I love the one in your header. Be well. Does the cactus bloom every year?
I've been away and have only just read this post. I am so sorry to hear your news but I'm glad to hear the surgery is over. You have had so much to cope with over the years and I know you are a strong lady. I will keep you in my thoughts and wish you strength for your chemo. xxx
