April is closing . . .

I'm fond of photos that don't look like the standard sharp photos but it's rare when I pull that off.
This fella has an attitude and seemed to pose for me.
This grouping was edited in PSE.
His mate isn't as photogenic but she did stay put long enough to help create a fun image.
 More April cactus blooms.
Quote: "Without goals and plans to reach them, you are like a ship that has set
sail with no direction." Fitzhugh Dodson

I used to have goals but for the last decade or so I haven't bothered making them mostly because they never come to fruition. Is it important to have direction in ones life? Do goals lead to happiness? I make lists of things I'd like to do and often they're executed swiftly and when they aren't I figure the plan wasn't meant to be. I often wonder if I should make long-term goals, but life is so iffy that I don't see the need. I suppose if one wants to be successful at something then creating goals or making a detailed plan is helpful.
So, dear reader/blog visitor, what do you think? Do you have goals? Do you feel like a ship that has set sail without direction and if so, does that concern you?

Beautiful bird and flower shots Gail! I'm amazed with all that you do and I don't think you take enough credit for it.

Perhaps you don't set goals in the traditional sense- but you continue to post creative work here. You did the 52 projects not too many years ago (that was huge!), you continue with your photography and writing, you've done the book of photos and quotes for friends and family- and these are things I remember just off the top of my head.

I do set goals because otherwise, I fear I'd do nothing constructive. I tend to procrastinate and that tendency will sabotage me every time.

But I do think everyone is different and has different methods of finding happiness in life. It's not very easy at times!

These are wonderful shots.

I actually never heard of setting goals when I was young. I've just sort of floated along, trying whatever seemed interesting--and art has always been interesting. I guess each painting or sculpture could be considered a short-term goal.

I always feel like there is my inner being... a soul, that is guiding my way and if I just shut up and follow she leads me to lovely things... : D

Beautiful bird shots and the cacti are fabulous!

I'm not a goal setter either, at least, not for the long term. I have a vague mental image of where I would like to be going and set short term goals for projects but I don't have any great plan. Having said that I decided back in the late 80's that I wanted to get creative and made a conscious decision some years later that I had to concentrate on art for my health's sake and that has led me to much happiness and fulfilment. Something to sustain me when life kicks back at me.
